
Multiple motor vehicle accidents over the weekend in west central Missouri, including a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor, a fatal UTV rollover, and a single-vehicle accident resulting in moderate injuries.
In Pettis County at 4:47 PM on Friday, July 19th, a pickup driven by William A. Anderson, 59, of Clinton overtook a slow-moving tractor driven by Phillip M. Staus, 36, of Sedalia. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Highway 65 just ½ mile south of Mather Rd in Pettis County. The pickup then struck the tractor in the rear. After impact, the tractor traveled off the roadway and overturned. Both drivers were transported to Bothwell Regional Medical in moderate condition, and both vehicles suffered extensive damage.
A second, fatal, accident occurred on Friday evening at 7:58 PM in St Clair County. This occurred on private property just 4 miles west of Collins. A UTV, operated by Russell T. Wiley, 40, of Independence, struck a hill then overturned and ejected the driver. Wiley was pronounced dead on scene.
A third incident occurred in St Clair County, on Highway 52 just 2 miles east of Appleton City. On the morning of Sunday, July 21st at 4:15 AM, a car driven by Evan M. Ward, 33, of Appleton City ran off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Ward suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City.
