Good morning everyone! I am in training today through Thursday, so the updates will lagging behind a bit until I get back into the Weather Center on Friday. So, I wanted to let you all in on something that could seem confusing if you did not know. So late last fall when school was starting, several teachers were asking me when the first snow would be. We would laugh as I would give them a percentage of having a snow day. Hopefully, all of you know that our teachers are so under-appreciated for all they do for our kids. I got a first hand look last year, when I was invited up to Osage Trails Middle School in Independence to give a presentation to some 7th graders. Of course I jumped at the chance to share some fun and science to the kids! Then they said I would give the presentation 7 times, to 7 groups of 50+ 7th graders. No problem right??? The first 2 groups went great. As the day continued on, the more tired and less energetic I felt. By my last hour, I had a splitting headache, I was hoarse and all I wanted was a blanket and hot cocoa…haha! Our teachers do this day in day out for 9 months out of the year. Incredible. So I came up with what is called “TSP”. TSP is just a fun acronym I made that stands for “Teacher’s Snowday Probability”. Each week in winter, I show a graphic that gives the percentage of that possibility that our teachers get a day off. I think we all have a bit of fun with this. THEN, one of our pastors that is in our group mentions “what about us pastors?!?!?!”. So, there was the birth of the “PSP”; “Pastor’s Snowday Probability”. So if your hearing people ask about what the TSP is for next week, you will know exactly what that means. Here is an example below of our graphic we will be using. Have a great week! Subby
