
On October 10, the ACHS and the ACMS will host the VB pink night. October 18, they will host the FB pink night. December 6, they will host the BB pink night. All three events will donate the proceeds to Jacob Rapp to assist with his cancer battle. The students in FBLA picked the person they would help this year. They will have games, cookies, prizes, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, t-shirt sales, sponsorship opportunities, and other activities.
The Montrose Fire Department’s 28th annual Taco Supper will be 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12 at St. Mary’s School. The menu includes a complete taco menu, dessert, drinks and a 50/50 raffle. Free will donations will be used to help purchase gear, washer extractor.
A delicious hot baked potato lunch will be served Wednesday, October 16 at the AC M.K.&T. Railroad Depot from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is the 20th year! The steaming hot baked potatoes will be served with your choice of toppings of chili, broccoli, cheese, bacon and sour cream. Drink and a serving of homemade cake are included for $10. Come and visit as you enjoy your meal in the Depot or carryouts will be available. All profits will be used by Appleton City Landmarks Restoration for maintenance of the 1870 M.K.&T. Depot, 1870 Library and Museum Complex.
The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. on Saturday October 12. All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship. Jerry Johannigmeier will have a short devotional.
October’s Second Wednesday, Meet Me On Main Shop and Stroll will be October 9, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Join Jina’s Junque, Rural Roots, 3 Wishes, Bluebird Lounge, Cork & Keg, 4th Street Fika, Bulldogs Nutrition, and the AC Library as they welcome the fall season.
October 19 is the next street festival featuring vendors, food and bouncy houses start at 11:00 a.m. Kids activities are all day with dinner provided by the Street Festival. Monegaw Strings will perform from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Come for a day of fun and an evening of Bluegrass entertainment. Bouncy House sponsors include: Moore Auto and Towing, Gary’s All Around Tree Service and the AC Police Department. The ACHS FCA is sponsoring “Fields Of Faith” 7:00 p.m. October 16, on the ACHS football field. A meal will be provided for Junior High and Senior High students. The community is welcome to attend the program. Coleton Smith will be the guest speaker.
On Saturday, October 19, Valley Center Church will host their 33rd annual Oktoberfest. It promises to be a most delicious evening with serving a German home cooked meal from 3:00-8:00 p.m. There is also a country store and musical entertainment. Adults eat for $15. Bring non-perishable food items and receive $1 off of an adult meal and help support local food pantries.

The MU Extension office in St. Clair County is offering a Barn Quilt class in Osceola 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. October 11 at the library in Osceola, 115 Chestnut St. Jocelyn Wheeler from Hickory County will be the instructor. Participants will have the opportunity to construct either a 2 ft x 2 ft design for $45.00 or a 1 ft x 1 ft design for $25.00. Register for the class at the Extension office located inside the west door of the courthouse, 655 Second Street, in Osceola by October 10. Nominations are being accepted for the week of January 20, 2025 election of the St. Clair County University of Missouri Extension Council members. Council members are elected or appointed to two-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Nominees must be at least 18 and must reside in the district from which they are selected. Nominations must be made prior to December 11, 2024. At least one candidate is sought for each of the following districts: North District – Appleton, Monegaw, Chalk Level, Butler, Jackson, Taber, Osage & Center Townships; South District – Osceola, Polk, Dallas, Doyal, Roscoe, Speedwell, Washington & Collins Townships. The council generally meets every other month on the evening of the first Tuesday, starting in February. Nominations may be made through the council chair or the county extension center. Nominees will be contacted to secure their permission to place their names on the January ballot.
