The Henry County Sheriff’s Office announces that charges have been filed against former Deputy Brady Graham following an investigation into an incident that occurred on August 29, 2024, during a traffic stop in Clinton, Missouri.
Immediately following the incident, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office initiated an internal investigation to review the matter from an employment perspective. Simultaneously, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was asked to conduct an external criminal investigation to ensure an impartial and thorough review of the incident.
The case was reviewed independently by the Johnson County Missouri’s Prosecutor’s Office after the Henry County Prosecutor recused due to a conflict of interest. On November 14, 2024, the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office filed the charge of Assault – 3rd Degree {Felony E RSMo: 565.054} against Graham.
Sheriff Aaron Brown issued the following statement:
“This is an unfortunate and difficult situation for everyone involved. I want to reassure the public and those involved that this investigation was handled with full transparency and professionalism, as you rightly expect and deserve. The incident was brought to light by our staff and during our internal review processes, and upon further investigation, it was determined that the conduct warranted independent review. While situations like this are disheartening, they also demonstrate our dedication to holding ourselves accountable to the public we serve.”
As this matter is now in the hands of the judicial system, the Sheriff’s Office will not be able to comment further to avoid jeopardizing the integrity of the case or the legal process.
