Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I am here at the weather center looking over all the data of such an active weather pattern we are in. EVERYONE is asking “when will we get snow Subby?”. I have been watching for signs of a significant Arctic intrusion of air that the LRC has been seeing now for weeks. The models and data is finally coming together producing an Arctic blast coming in the first few days of 2025. Take a look at the snapshot at 18k feet above our heads for Jan 2nd-4th below;
We see our first true chance to see a winter storm and cold air coming into WCMO after January 1st. A battleground is setting up between 2 air masses right over Missouri. Now remember, we are looking at models that show us what COULD happen, not what WILL happen. These models and all the data I research gives me an idea of the trends of what could happen. I look at temperature profiles, strength of storm system, location possibilities of the storm system and many more factors before I issue a forecast. BUT, for those snow lovers out there, if this snapshot above holds true, the picture below could verify into a major winter storm for WCMO;
Many things will change over the next 10 days for sure, but this gives you a heads up especially if your traveling over the New Year’s Holiday. We a couple chances to see some snow prior to this storm, but this is the one I will be paying close attention to. We have 6 viewers pick Jan 3 and Jan 4 as their dates for the Subby’s First 1″ Snowfall contest so good luck to them, as they have a shot to win it all!
