Sue Zimmerman

Sue Zimmerman (July 13, 1942-March 17, 2025) was the daughter of Cloe Irene Heard Gross and James E. Womble and legally adopted by her stepfather Ray Jordan. She was born and raised in Windsor, Missouri. She was married to Bob Zimmerman for 62 years and was the mother of Machelle Zimmerman.

Sue was full of life and humor and fun. Her mind sparkled with wit. While she was occupied as a wife and mother, she also worked in accounts at Hallmark Cards and as a stockbroker. She loved math and reading. She was an expert bridge player. She had an large button collection, which was jumpstarted after inheriting her husband’s grandmother’s buttons. She also had an impressive sports card collection and enjoyed playing cards at the casino, winning about as often as she lost.

After finishing high school in Windsor in 1960, she attended Christian College in Columbia, MO and later Warrensburg, MO. She lived with her husband Bob in Kansas City, MO, Higginsville, MO, White Bear Lake, MN, and St. Joseph, MO. She spent the last 25 years in Warsaw MO at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she went fishing every morning in her paddleboat. She loved being on the water and would take a cruise about once a year.

Sue died at home, watching the pelicans on the lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2024 and is survived by her daughter Machelle Zimmerman, her sister Doti Young, her nieces Mindi Kelley and Cindy Jackson, her nephews Brad and Brian Young and her cousin Rick Womble.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Friends are invited to visit with the family following the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the George and Louise Zimmerman Scholarship to benefit Windsor High School graduates (checks payable to WHS MSEF). Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
