On Saturday, June 14, many gathered in Clinton as part of the “No Kings” national day of protest, aligning with tens of thousands of rallies held in cities and towns across the U.S. The demonstrations marked Flag Day and coincided with the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary Parade in Washington, D.C.
Missouri saw “No Kings” protests in over 30 locations—including Columbia, Jefferson City, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Springfield—with thousands in attendance. In Kansas City alone, KCUR reported more than 10,000 participants braving heat and humidity. Across Missouri the protests remained peaceful.
Henry County Sheriff Aaron Brown told Radford Media Group that he had been in contact and met with the leaders of this protest in advance and explained that his department will not tolerate any uprising.
The protesters, who advertised being on the Clinton Square, in fact decided to avoid the Square all together due to the family friendly Cruise Night event taking place. They instead marched from their headquarter located on Washington Street, down to Grandriver, before turning south towards City Hall on Main Street, where they waved America flags and held signs as people passed.
No incidents reported.
