Shirley Mae Whitworth

Shirley Mae Whitworth, 94, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday evening, June 30, 2025, at the Country Club Care Center, Warrensburg, Mo.

She was born June 14, 1931, near Windsor, Mo., the daughter of Emmett Wendell Johnson and Thelma Marguerite (Miller) Johnson. On September 23, 1950, she married Raymond Nelson Whitworth in Kansas City, Mo., and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2019.

Shirley grew up in Benton County and graduated from Lincoln High School. She and Raymond operated their farm near Warrensburg for over 20 years. They lived near Clinton for several years and Shirley was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include 3 children, Vicki Whitworth, Ashland, Mo., Kevin Whitworth (Diana), Higginsville, Mo., and Joy Lakey (Ronnie), Warrensburg, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, Nelson, Justin, Jared, Shelby, and Sarah; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Zella Lou Johnson, Independence, Mo.; a niece and many extended Whitworth family members. In addition to her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Johnson Jr.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Aaron Ray Collett officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
