A team of local first responders is being recognized for their heroic actions that saved the life of a 3-month-old baby boy in cardiac arrest earlier this year. They have been awarded the “Great Save Award”. The “Great Save Award” is a recognition, particularly in healthcare and emergency services, for individuals who perform actions that save a life or prevent serious harm.
On May 21, 2025, emergency units were dispatched to a call involving an infant in severe distress. When members of the Clinton Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare EMS arrived on the scene, they found the child in full cardiac arrest.
Thanks to the rapid response and immediate use of life-saving measures, the infant was successfully resuscitated at the scene. A testament to the skill, training, and teamwork of the emergency personnel involved.
Those honored for their roles in the rescue include Officer Alex Roots, Corporal Emily Heim, Captain Chris Reno, EMT Chandler Hill, Susie Brown, Devan Smith Jr., RN Janet Taylor, Firefighter Jacob Tcshanen, and Sergeant Patrick Meeks.
Their actions on May 21 serve as a powerful reminder of the essential work first responders perform every day—and the lives they save because of it.
