Appleton City Schedules Public Hearing on Proposed Tax Levy for August 26

The City of Appleton City has announced a public hearing to discuss the proposed 2025 tax levy. The hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, at City Hall, 114 E. 4th Street.

Citizens will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed property tax rates, which are set to support general purposes, parks, police and fire, and the city library. The levy is proposed at 1.476 and will take effect upon approval.

For the 2025 tax year, Appleton City reports an assessed valuation of $11,505,442 — with $8,307,068 in real estate and $3,198,374 in personal property. This marks an increase from the 2024 valuation of $10,099,992.

The breakdown of tax revenues budgeted for 2025 includes:

  • General Purposes: $74,828

  • Park Fund: $36,578

  • Police and Fire: $21,947

  • Library Fund: $20,902

The corresponding proposed tax rates per 100 of assessed valuation are $0.7160 for general purposes, $0.3500 for parks, $0.2100 for police and fire, and $0.2000 for the library.

If no objections are raised during the hearing, the levy will be approved during the regular council meeting immediately following the public hearing.
