Good morning everyone! As I begin my very, very hectic month of October, I wanted to fill you in on some big time changes that I am seeing with our weather pattern. For those that have followed me for any length of time, you know how I am such a proponent to the LRC model developed by long time KC meteorologist Gary Lezak. Around October 6th of each year, a new unique cycle is set up. Once we find out how many days in between the repeating cycles that there are, we can transpose that over the next 10-11 months and can see out long range and what we can expect our weather to be like. I am already seeing huge differences in the weather patterns that the models are spitting out since a couple days ago. I feel like we are in the classic “Fall” weather period when we have constant ups and downs in temperatures and precipitation. We will warm up a bit as we head into the weekend and into next week. Then, take a look at this POWERHOUSE system coming in around next weekend:

We could see some severe weather breaking out in the Midwest as well as WCMO. This cold front will sweep southeast and bring some much colder air into our area behind this

front;

This is a brand new system both in intensity and in location from where it originated that has not happened over the last 11-12 months. Another indicator that the LRC is changing and evolving right before our eyes. This system will likely repeat itself, but we still do not know how often. Until we can see the familiar characteristics as they repeat in 40, 45, 50 or any number of days, we will not know how active our winter as well as spring and summer will be like. Very exciting times! We can expect a couple of small disturbances to affect us here in WCMO on Friday morning and again on Monday and Tuesday. Of course I will be watching closely for that potential to see some strong thunderstorms next weekend and will continue to keep you informed as we go through this week. Until then, enjoy the beautiful fall temperatures!! Subby
