Lela Belle Baskins, 97, of West Linn, Oregon, formerly of Windsor, Missouri, died early Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, at Tanner Spring Memory Care in West Linn.
She was born May 4, 1928, in Sterling, Colorado, the daughter of Henry and Maude (Pryor) Clark. On April 6, 1947, she married Gloyd “Jim” Baskins in Husum, Washington, and they were the parents of two sons, Wendell and Gary. Jim preceded her in death on April 19, 1992. Her son, Gary, preceded her in death on September 3, 2025.
Lela enjoyed living on the farm that she and Jim owned in rural Windsor for many years. She worked at the ASCS office (now Farm Service Agency) in Clinton, Mo., for twenty-three years. After her retirement, she drove the OATS bus for senior adults in the Henry County area. She was an active and long-time member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. Lela moved to Forest Grove, Oregon, in 2006. She entered Tanner Spring Memory Care in 2021.
Being the fifth child in her family of twelve children, Lela spent time traveling across the country to visit family and friends. She celebrated her 90th birthday on her last trip to Windsor, Missouri. Lela loved to crochet, sew, and cook. She was always making cookies to share, crocheting an afghan for someone, or making a sweatshirt jacket for a church event.
Survivors include a son, Wendell Baskins (Lynn), Oregon City, Oregon; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Baskins, Windsor, Mo.; 2 granddaughters, Nancy Rhoads (Brent Austin), Windsor, Mo., and Dawn Anderson (Eric), Warrensburg, Mo.; 4 great-grandchildren, Brendan Rhoads, Coby Rhoads, Emily Anderson, and Elijah Anderson; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to Windsor United Methodist Church in care of Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
