
Clinton, Mo. The City of Clinton’s Public Works Committee convened in an open meeting Tuesday morning, October 28, at City Hall to review ongoing municipal projects, community development activity, and preparations for the upcoming holiday season.
Committee members Roger House, Cameron Jackson, and Rob Hills were present, along with staff representatives including Public Works Director Christy Maggi and department leaders from streets, wastewater, and operations. Contracted utility partners from Alliance Water Resources (AWR) also participated. Mayor Carla Moberly attended as a guest.
Community Development Activity
The committee reviewed building reports for August and September, reflecting continued development activity within the city limits. Updates were also presented regarding a property located at 608 W. Grandriver, with staff reporting on compliance, permitting status, or next steps related to the address.
Street Department Projects and Seasonal Planning
Preparations are underway for Main Street’s Christmas lighting and parade, with the department coordinating seasonal displays and equipment needs ahead of the holiday events downtown.
The committee also discussed the declared surplus of an open-top container from the Transfer Station, clearing the way for disposal or sale of unused assets.
Updates were shared on two major transportation and safety initiatives. The ongoing SS4A Safety Plan continues to advance Clinton’s eligibility for federal safety improvement support, while planning remains active for the North 7/13 Junction Improvement Project intended to enhance mobility and reduce traffic concerns at the intersection.
Wastewater System and Facility Improvements
Progress reports were provided on critical wastewater infrastructure. Topics included replacement needs for the West RAS/WAS pump and updates on the Triton’s and VacCon equipment essential for treatment operations and maintenance.
Operations reports for August and September were reviewed, providing a performance overview of the system and compliance status.
The committee also received briefings on the future WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) upgrade project, positioned to improve long-term capacity and regulatory compliance. Additionally, staff discussed the Stoneridge sewer connection effort, which will expand service access and establish new connectivity within the system.
Next Steps
Items discussed will move forward through further staff follow-up, recommendations to City Council, or continued project development. The Public Works Committee will reconvene at its next regularly scheduled session to continue oversight of Clinton’s infrastructure and public service priorities.
