Pettis County, MO – Pettis County, in partnership with the Pettis County Community Partnership (PCCP), held a food donation hand-off as part of the ongoing “SNAP Gap” Food Drive to support residents affected by the Federal Shutdown.

Elected officials and county employees joined together to collect food donations for local families in need. A donation drop-off station was placed at the Pettis County Courthouse, allowing employees and citizens to easily contribute food items for local distribution.

Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza highlighted the strong sense of community behind these efforts. “This is what Pettis County is all about, neighbors helping neighbors,” Baeza said. “We’re grateful for everyone at the Courthouse who stepped up during this time of need. It’s a reminder that our community is full of people who care deeply about one another and aren’t afraid to take action when it matters most.”

Western Commissioner Mark Edwards emphasized the importance of community partnerships in times of crisis. “We’re fortunate to have organizations like Pettis County Community Partnership that can get food and resources directly into the hands of people who need them most,” Edwards said.

Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor encourage the community to participate “We’ve got a big-hearted community here in Pettis County, and it really shows when times get tough. I just want to encourage folks to drop off a few cans or whatever you can spare. Every little bit helps a neighbor, and that’s what this is all about.”

The donated items were delivered to Pettis County Community Partnership on November 3, where they will be distributed to local families and individuals affected by the temporary suspension of SNAP benefits.

Pettis County Community Partnership continues to provide resources and assistance to residents in need. Food donations will continue to be accepted at Pettis County Community Partnership on an ongoing basis. For those wishing to contribute through the county, items can be dropped off on the first floor of the Pettis County Courthouse through the end of November.
