The Clinton School District has released its Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) plans for the 2025–2026 school year, providing guidance for how learning will continue on days when inclement weather forces buildings to close.
In an email to parents and guardians, Director of Communications and Community Relations, Angie Lawson outlined how the district will utilize AMI days, which are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). DESE allows school districts to implement AMI plans so that instructional time lost due to weather-related closures does not have to be made up at the end of the year.
On days when winter weather impacts normal operations, the district will notify families whether the day will be treated as a “traditional inclement weather day” or an “AMI day.” Parents are encouraged to watch for this information in all official district messages.
Attendance on AMI days will be based on student participation. To be counted present, students must complete and submit their assigned work on the first day school is back in session. Assignments not turned in by that time will result in the student being marked absent for the AMI day.
The district has made its full 2025–2026 AMI plans available for each building, and parents who have questions are encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher.
