Emergency crews in Bates County stayed busy Sunday afternoon and evening, responding to two fires and a vehicle crash in Rich Hill.
The Rich Hill Fire Department was first dispatched just after 2 p.m. to a grass fire threatening a structure roughly seven miles northwest of Rich Hill. While Rich Hill crews worked that scene, the Butler Fire Department was asked to cover the Rich Hill station.
On their way to Rich Hill, Butler firefighters came across a vehicle fire in the southbound lanes of I-49 near mile marker 123 around 2:15 p.m. Crews quickly responded and extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Later that evening, at approximately 8 p.m., Rich Hill Fire, Bates County EMS, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash at 11th and Walnut in Rich Hill, where a vehicle had struck a residence.
Two individuals were transported from the scene by Bates County EMS. Emergency personnel remained on scene until about 9:30 p.m., clearing the area once all hazards were secured.
