The AC Library invites you to join them January 20 at 5:30 at the library for their next book club pick, Going Viral for Christmas, by Cedar James This festive, feel-good novel is full of small-town charm, unexpected fame, and plenty of Christmas cheer, perfect for curling up with during the season. If you are interested in joining them, message the library or stop by the front desk to sign up. Their meeting will be to talk about the book.

January 17 3:00-6:00 p.m. is Kid’s Fun Day at Growing In Grace Community Center with Shelli Bales face painting and funny character drawing. They will have carnival games food, cotton candy and popcorn. Please come and be blessed!

The Appleton City High School Scholarship Foundation will award thirteen $3,500 Scholarships to ACHS 2026 graduates for any type of educational training, vocational and college.  Forms are available from the College Advisor, Ashley Deel.  The deadline is March 4 at 9:00 a.m. Please be sure to complete all questions.

ROL is hosting another Third Sunday event Sunday evening January 18 beginning at 6:00 p.m.  This meeting will be a Prayer based meeting as they pray for needs, as well as pray for situations globally, nationally, and locally.  As always, any are welcome to attend. Upcoming Third Sunday meetings, which are always at 6:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated, include: February 15 – Valentine’s Day Meal with live music, March 15 – Seder Meal with Passover Teaching, April 19  – Testimony Night and May 17 –  Singspiration (TBD). River of Life is located at the corner of 2nd and Vernon Streets in Rockville.  They are a full gospel fellowship welcoming to any looking for a church home and a deeper connection with Jesus.  They have multiple opportunities to gather, including Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., Sunday morning worship at 10:15 a.m., Prayer and Bible Study Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and Third Sunday events every month.  They also have numerous special meetings throughout the year, including a special event planned for the first weekend of March (and Purim).  More details to come.

Appleton City Manor Nursing Home is looking for some recliners for their residents’ rooms. If you are looking to get rid of one, they are in need. The residents would greatly appreciate it. You can call the Manor at 660-476-2128.

The Golden Apples will meet 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026 at The Farmhouse Kitchen. This week’s theme is baked chicken. Please add to the meal with your favorite sides, and desserts. Bingo will follow, with at least one winner every game. 

St. Mary’s School (Montrose) will have a spaghetti dinner Saturday January 31 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. in the school basement.  The dinner is a free will donation.  Please come with family and friends and enjoy a delicious dinner of spaghetti with sauce, breadsticks, salad, dessert and tea or lemonade while supporting St. Mary’s School. There will also be a silent auction with classroom crafts and other items.

MU Extension, Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District and Cedar County MO Farm Bureau are cooperating to provide the Cedar County Livestock and Forage Conference on February 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Stockton United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 708 State Hwy 32, Stockton, MO 65785. Cedar County agriculture organizations will provide updates during the conference. The Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District office will provide updates on their programs as well as honor their cooperator of the year. Also, a representative from Cedar County Farm Bureau will provide a legislative update. This conference will focus on cattle health and farm tax implications due to political policies. MU extension presentations and speakers are as follows: “Cattle health update: Theileria and New World Screwworm”, Dr. Craig Payne, Director, MU Veterinary Extension; “Farm tax implications due to political policies”, Wesley Tucker, MU Extension Agriculture Business Field Specialist. Agriculture businesses that support the conference will have booths set up. Attendees can visit the booths and learn how their products can help improve their farm operation.  For info or to have a booth, contact the Cedar County MU Extension Center at (417) 276-3313 or Patrick Davis, Livestock Field Specialist, by email at davismp@missouri.edu.  Deadline to register for a booth and pay the fee is February 16. The conference is free, and a meal will be provided.
