A late-night multi-agency vehicle pursuit on Monday ended with the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile following a high-speed chase through portions of Bates County.
According to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified at approximately 11 p.m. on February 10 that a Butler Missouri Police Department officer was actively pursuing a blue Ford F-150 that had fled from the city limits of Butler.
Authorities say the pursuit traveled northbound on Interstate 49, where speeds reached approximately 110 miles per hour, before exiting at the Passaic overpass. The vehicle then continued east on D Highway and north on Z Highway.
The Butler officer lost sight of the truck when it exited Z Highway onto County Road 3003. A Bates County deputy located the vehicle again near County Road 3003 and Highway 18 east of Adrian and continued the pursuit eastbound on Highway 18 before the suspect vehicle turned north onto Z Highway.
At that location, the deputy deployed a Grappler device, successfully bringing the truck to a stop. The driver was taken into custody with the assistance of K-9 Falco.
The juvenile suspect was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment related to dog bites sustained during the arrest.
Officials say the 17-year-old was turned over to juvenile authorities and is facing multiple felony charges. The suspect is one day away from his 18th birthday.
