The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,337 calls for service in January 2026, reflecting a steady and proactive start to the new year across the county’s 702 square miles.

According to the department’s January report, deputies generated 117 offense reports, made 36 arrests, and conducted 327 traffic stops during the month. The detention center recorded 93 bookings, with an average daily inmate population of 88 in a facility designed to house 119 inmates. The Henry County Courthouse also saw significant activity, welcoming more than 3,500 visitors in January.

Sheriff Aaron Brown noted that January marked a month of momentum for the agency, with strong operational activity not only in rural Henry County but also in contracted communities.

In municipal policing efforts, the City of Windsor accounted for 359 calls for service, 41 reports, 11 arrests, and 122 traffic stops. Urich recorded 27 calls for service, Deepwater 25, Montrose 21, and Calhoun 21, reflecting the Sheriff’s Office’s continued partnership with local communities.

Deputies also conducted specialized traffic enforcement operations along major state highways, including Highways 7, 52, 18, 2, and 23. The enforcement initiative resulted in five citations and 137 warnings, with an emphasis on reducing hazardous violations in high-traffic and school-zone areas. The effort was supported by a Missouri Department of Transportation grant.

Community engagement remained a priority throughout January. Deputies participated in “Donut with a Deputy” in Windsor, supported the Soup for the Soul fundraiser benefiting Pediatric Place, conducted fentanyl awareness education at Windsor High School, and performed regular check-ins at the Clinton warming shelter during extreme cold weather. The office also collaborated with the Midwest Missouri Career Criminal and Drug Task Force during a regional saturation operation.

The Investigations Unit maintained a high workload, handling financial crimes, cyber-enabled investigations, property crimes, and crimes against children. Detectives generated 105 investigative supplements, issued 15 subpoenas, executed two search warrants, and submitted six probable cause statements to prosecutors. Among the cases was a multi-national cryptocurrency theft investigation referred for potential federal adoption.

The Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) made 12 referrals in January to behavioral health liaisons and conducted two court-ordered mental health transports. Officials report the program continues to focus on connecting individuals in crisis with appropriate treatment resources.

Inside the detention center, staff worked through ongoing facility maintenance challenges while expanding housing partnerships, including adding Boone County inmates in January. Policy updates and academy preparations are also underway, with plans to expand staff training opportunities in 2026.

The department completed several grant-funded upgrades through the Missouri Blue Shield Program, including replacing 13 outdated computers, improving training room technology, and purchasing equipment to enhance officer safety and evidence integrity. The office was also awarded funding for five License Plate Reader cameras to be installed at key county entry and exit points.

Sheriff Brown said the month set the tone for 2026 as proactive, focused, and forward-moving.

“We are investing in our people more than ever,” Brown stated in the report. “Our staff is the backbone of this office. They are the reason for our progress, the strength of our culture, and the foundation of our future.”

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office continues to emphasize community connection, professional training, and proactive enforcement as it moves further into 2026.
