The Lowry City Board of Aldermen will meet in regular session Tuesday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Lowry City Hall.
Following the call to order, pledge of allegiance, and roll call, aldermen will consider approval of regular session minutes from February 17 and closed session minutes from February 24. The board is also expected to review and approve the city’s bills list, which includes the worker’s compensation renewal due at the end of March. City officials report the overall payroll amount has decreased by 9.8 percent, contributing to a 9.1 percent reduction in the workers’ compensation premium compared to last year.
Board members will also review financial reports for the month ending February 28. According to the agenda, total city income currently stands at 69.5 percent of the budgeted amount for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, while expenses are at 71.6 percent.
Among the key items under new business is consideration of employee health insurance coverage for fiscal year 2026–2027. The city has received a quote from Missouri Chamber Federation showing rates decreasing by 2.2 percent. If the city continues paying 80 percent of the premium, the city’s portion would be $963.60 per employee per month, while the employee contribution would decrease to $240.90 monthly. Aldermen will need to approve coverage before the April 15 deadline.
The board is also scheduled to consider approval of Hazard Mitigation Resolution 2026-01, which is required for the city to be eligible for FEMA disaster aid. Another agenda item includes a proposed fund transfer from the cemetery checking account to reimburse the general fund for cemetery wages. City officials note the cemetery account currently holds approximately $389,000. Cemetery wages totaled $8,918.52 in 2025 and $6,331.82 in 2024.
Residents will have an opportunity to address the board during the citizen input portion of the meeting. Speakers are asked to state their name for the record and limit comments to three minutes.
Department reports are also planned. City Hall staff will provide updates on upcoming City Officials Training Seminars hosted by Lauber Municipal Law, recent social media and website engagement, and upcoming community events including the citywide garage sale on April 4 and citywide cleanup scheduled for April 11. Reports will also be given by the police, fire, and public works departments.
The meeting is expected to conclude with a closed session discussion regarding personnel matters, followed by reconvening in open session for final adjournment.
The meeting is open to the public. Individuals needing special accommodations are asked to contact City Hall at least 48 hours in advance.
