Rita Jane York

Rita Jane York, 87, of Windsor, Missouri, passed away early Thursday morning, April 16, 2026, at Clinton Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

She was born June 13, 1938, in Windsor, Missouri, the daughter of Otis Raymond Scrimager and Vernie Thelma (Laughlin) Scrimager. On May 27, 1956, she married Standley Wayne York in Windsor, and they shared nearly 70 years of marriage and were the parents of three sons, Mike, David, and Darryl.

Rita graduated form Windsor High School in 1956. She worked in the Windsor school cafeteria and the was the playground supervisor for Windsor Elementary School for many years, retiring in May, 1992. She was a member of the Windsor Garden Club and enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church and had most recently attended First United Methodist Church, Sedalia.

In addition to her husband Stan, survivors include 3 sons, Mike York (Teresa Guerra-York), Kansas City, Mo., David York (Debra O’Donnell), Canton, Georgia, and Darryl York, Santa Barbara, California; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel, Mallory (Tim), Mia, and Noe; a sister-in-law, Carol Scrimager, Sedalia, Mo., and a niece, Cindy Harness (Carl). She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Raymond Scrimager, and a nephew, David Scrimager.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Candace Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.
