Another round of severe weather moved through West Central Missouri late Sunday night into early Monday morning, bringing strong thunderstorms, large hail, and damaging winds to the region.

The storms followed an already active stretch of severe weather across Missouri on Sunday, where multiple tornado warnings were issued and scattered power outages were reported, particularly across western portions of the state.

Meteorologists say many of the strongest storms developed as supercells — a type of thunderstorm capable of producing the most dangerous weather, including large hail, intense winds, and tornadoes. These storms tracked across parts of West Central Missouri overnight, keeping residents on alert through the late evening and early morning hours.

In southwest Missouri, several radar-indicated tornado warnings were issued as storms intensified. One warning was upgraded to a “considerable” classification, signaling the potential for significant damage and a heightened risk to life and property.

While no widespread damage has been confirmed locally as of Monday morning, the storms did produce periods of heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong wind gusts. Utility crews in some areas are continuing to assess outages and restore power where needed.

Forecasters also warn that repeated rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding concerns, especially in low-lying areas, near creeks and streams, and in places that received significant rain over the weekend. Drivers are urged to use caution and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather-aware, as springtime conditions continue to favor severe storm development across the region.
