State Fair Community College Year 1 Nursing Students are giving back to the community after a recent class fundraiser raised more money than expected.

According to the students, the fundraiser was originally organized to help support educational activities for their nursing program. However, after covering those needs, the class found they still had extra funds remaining.

Following discussion among the students, the class decided to donate the remaining $395 to help graduating seniors with outstanding lunch balances and other unpaid school-related fees.

The nursing students said they understand financial burdens can create additional stress for students during an important time in their lives and hope the donation will help seniors focus on celebrating their accomplishments and successfully completing high school.

In a statement, the students said the donation reflects their commitment to community support, compassion, and helping others succeed.

The class also thanked school staff and educators for their dedication to supporting students every day.
