Good morning everyone! As you know we have developed our own “in house” model in which we are able to add up to 10 data sets into a model with Artificial Intelligence that will pump out a range of forecast (ensemble). As you all know, there were forecast being shared 5-7 days before the event that showed WCMO getting anywhere from 6 to 17″ of snow and pretty much Armageddon. The National Weather Service issued a 4-8″ of snow for our area as well as 1/4″ of ice. Our forecast for West Central Missouri here at the Bomgaars Weather Center came out on Thursday night, 3 days prior to the event. Our forecast was for 2″-5″ of snow and 1/4″ to half inch of ice. We held that forecast throughout the event. I believe our forecast held up very well! A bit of adjustment was mentioned on Saturday for our northern counties of Cass, Johnson and Pettis counties could see the upper amount of 5″ and possible a bit more. Officially here in Clinton we received 2.75″ of snow, 2.5″ of sleet and 3/10″ of ice. Those in Harrisonville, Warrensburg, and Sedalia saw 4″-6″ of snow and those in the southern counties of Vernon and Southern St. Clair counties saw  a bit less at 1-2″ of snow but a bit more sleet. So all in all, I believe the in house model performed very well and I am excited that our forecast stayed consistent over a period of days. Everyone did a great job of getting road conditions and current weather out to social media on Subby’s Weather Talk and other platforms. Our next chance of wintery precipitation comes overnight on Thursday night as a strong storm system moves across the Southern US. I am not expecting much snow accumulations, but as cold as we are, it will stick to nearly everything and we could see a few travel implications on the Friday morning commute. Subby
