Good morning! I try and go over this each year just to refresh everyone one on what does it mean when I say a 30% chance of rain. Will it rain 40 percent of the time? Will it rain
over 40 percent of the area? The probability of precipitation (POP) simply describes the probability that the forecast area in question will receive at least 0.01″ of rainfall. So when I say a 30% chance of rain in WCMO, I am saying that West Central Missouri has a 30% chance that any one point in our area could see at least 0.01″ of rainfall. I hope this helps!
