WCMO Seeing Any Rain Tonight?????

Good morning! We have an approaching cut off Low Pressure system that is trekking across the Midwest today that will touch off some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Central and East Central Kansas. This Low will encounter much drier air at mid levels of the atmosphere and will begin to weaken. As you can see in picture below, the best chances for thunderstorms will remain in Eastern Kansas but we should have some light rain/showers move into West Central Missouri around the midnight time frame. I am not expecting much of moisture with this with amount ranging from a tenth to a quarter of an inch. How this will help is by adding moisture into the atmosphere that will aid our chances to see more precipitation as little disturbances come across later in the week as a cold front moves through. We have to overcome all the dryness above our heads at all levels or else it will just evaporate before it reaches the ground like we saw in pictures last week (virga). Even if we do not get a huge amount of precipitation tonight, we need this to help break this down. So let’s stay positive! Subby
